Guru Nanak Dev Ji says
“Adi sach jugadi sach, hai bhi sach Nanak hosi bhi sach.” He says,
He is talking about Truth, but what is that truth? It has been said,
“Ik omkar satnam karta purukhu nirbhau nirvairu. Akal moorati ajooni raibham sadguru prasadi.”
“It is One, it is the True Name, it is the doer, it is fearless, it knows no enmity, it is the image of Timelessness, it is self-existent and it is realised by the Master’s grace.”
Whatever we speak is related to the tongue, but there is a name, a word which is in no way related to speech. When a child is born, he gradually learns to speak the language which his parents and family speak. But what was his language before he was born?
Guru Nanak Dev says,
“Man mandir tan bhesh kalandar, ghat hi tirath navam. Ek shabda mere pran basat hain, bahuri janma nahin awan.”
“Mind is the temple, all pilgrimages are within our heart. I know the One Word which dwells in my breath, and I won’t be reborn.”
We don’t know in what circumstances we may be born next time, so we must understand that Word.

- “It was true in the beginning,
- it is still true and
- it will remain ever true.”
